Thanks Keith for this survey, I missed it or hadn’t signed up in time. Definately to stand against tyrantical future Gov’ts. Like some want to impose! A national police force that “they” can control. More likely during the of “Jacobs trouble” 😉😉
I agree this was excellent. Being a retired LE I sometimes wonder what the next generation of LE are thinking about subjects like this it's hard to gauge sometimes and the media doesn't help. You are doing good work keep it up!
In that survey, the results were pretty much the same. In fact 95.7% were opposed to the high capacity magazine ban.
If the citizen is disarmed, there is no deterrence to a tyrannical Government as Our Founding Fathers knew too well with their experience of the British Crown's tyranny.
The Constitution was written to LIMIT government, NOT the citizen.
I get it there are some officers out there that won’t come to your doors. But in the guise of following orders there have been plenty of examples of officers doing that very same thing. In Florida we have open carry only while hunting, fishing or camping. There are multiple people down here that run auditor videos showing just how the police react good and bad. Mostly bad. And when I first moved here is when Florida passed it’s permitless carry bill. I talked to many officers in and around my area and I found 1 out of 10 supported it. The 9 parroted the liberal talking points, Wild West, everyone will be carrying a gun, shooting will escalate and the such. Covid also showed that most will follow unjust and idiotic rules, not even laws. I’m sorry but the trust for the thin blue line has gone and most don’t trust them to not do their job when ordered too.
Good article Keith! I have good friends in law enforcement! I ask one them a question about confiscation after Obama was elected! His answer, “I don’t one person wearing a badge who would confiscate anyone firearms!
The right of the people to keep and bear arms enshrines the right to revolution against tyranny, and personal protection and sport don't come close. Unfortunately case law has interpreted the right as self protection and anyone who wants to protect against tyranny is out of luck because there's no legal way to get a gun secretly and if you want anything related they'll call you mentally ill and say you've given up the right.
There are no moral geniuses in government or law enforcement and gun control is tyranny. They are not better people than anyone else and have no legitimate authority, especially to infringe the means of protection against them.
I appreciate the survey and it's results but I do not believe the author's conclusion. Many cops have families and mortgages and they will do as instructed when push comes to shove. Also, a not insignificant reason for open borders is to provide a private police force to do the bidding of the feds. Think Biden's Brownshirts. A bought force with no emotional attachment to the population they are being used against. We have some whitewater ahead.
How much money do you think we make? You are out of touch if you think cops care about their job. They've been abandoned by the public and all of them have one foot out the door. I'm the author. I did the poll. You can choose to ignore what I did, but you need to wake up thinking we make as much money as you think we do.
Perhaps I misread you. I understood you to say that we could trust the cops to protect our 2A rights. I challenged that conclusion for reasons mentioned. Please reread my comment, I don't think we are on different sides. To be clear, my comments don't apply to every sworn officer.
Certainly you MAY have an outlier, but they are the rare case. This study was done across a wide section of Law Enforcement and coincides with my experience working with street cops. I haven't met one willing to violate the 2A. This isn't supposition, this is my experience backed by the study.
True enough, and maybe they come from different places? They were corrupted pretty easily. The other problem is tha they are the real police, when they choose to be. When has LEO ever stood up to them over jurisdiction? Texas is breaking new ground.
100 million plus gun owners and 700 million guns in circulation according to the ATF.
NO ONE is taking guns from legal citizens.

This is excellent. Thank you!
Thanks for the re-affirmation. I participated in a more comprehensive survey conduct by Policeone.com in 2011 of 15,000 LEOs. The summary by Doug Wyllie can be found at: https://www.police1.com/gun-legislation-law-enforcement/articles/policeones-gun-control-survey-11-key-lessons-from-officers-perspectives-m4At3JUr9iHpA45K/.

I hope you're right. I expect this to be tested. The past 4 years watching the Feds in action is not confidence building.
Well... the feds aren't the real police TBH.
